Question on Site Size and Resolution - Macromedia Dreamweaver

My web host has suggested that I design at 800 x 600 , and said my site was "too wide." My question is how to I set this parameter so that I don't exceed 800 width when building pages? Is there a way or should I just add up the widths of my table cells and make sure they don't collectively exceed 800 ? The site looks fine unless you pull the "Favorites" bar down from I.E. and then it like cuts off part of the site. Nothing MAJOR.....but would like to rectify this problem in the future. Also is ...

Default Question on Site Size and Resolution

My web host has suggested that I design at
800 x 600 , and said my site was "too wide."

My question is how to I set this parameter
so that I don't exceed 800 width when building pages?

Is there a way or should I just add up the widths of
my table cells and make sure they don't collectively exceed 800 ?

The site looks fine unless you pull the "Favorites" bar down from
I.E. and then it like cuts off part of the site.
Nothing MAJOR.....but would like to rectify this problem in
    the future.

Also is there a way to reduce a page width that has already been built?

THANKS ...and I'm using the DW 3 antique version !

In dreamweaver at the bottom right of the html you see something like 729x389...click on that and you will see setting for different screen sizes.....800x600 is 760 x 420...just make sure you don't resize the html wail you are working...be nice if there was a lock for this...you can edit you own size to....

here is something i do every so often...I put a layer on level 1 set it to (0x0 position) make it to the screen size i want... check it in each bowser to make sure I'm not to big and not too small....some times i keep it in the background just to be safe to what I'm building....all so load all the menus, side bars what ever else they want people to have showing in the bowser window.... AOL the worst for this....
