Quicken 2001 issues... - Mac Applications & Software

I am using Quicken 2001 for the mac. As of the past several months, I've noted that I've been unable to delete transactions without the application crashing on me. As a solution I have to void the transaction, which is not exactly the same as deleting it. Does anyone have a solution, or even heard of this problem? There is a solution to the problem that does not involve reinstalling, and possibly mesing up my Palm Sync conduits and settings. Default Quicken 2001 issues...

I am using Quicken 2001 for the mac. As of the past several months,
I've noted that I've been unable to delete transactions without the
application crashing on me. As a solution I have to void the
transaction, which is not exactly the same as deleting it. Does anyone
have a solution, or even heard of this problem?

There is a solution to the problem that does not involve reinstalling,
and possibly mesing up my Palm Sync conduits and settings.

Just like there was a solution to my Jornadas sync issues that did not
involve reformatting my PC's hard drive, and that was that the former
unit had a motherboard issue, which was fixed when I purchased another
unit which know syncs 100% of the time.

I am deeply looking for a profitable solution, not a careless way out
that may not solve the issues...

I know exactly what they'll tell him, which is also described in the
manual and online help. In fact, this is copied and pasted from the
    latter:

Perform maintenance on your data file

1 Open your data file in Quicken.

2 Open the Accounts window, and then hold down the Command, Option, and
B keys simultaneously. Release the keys when you see the "Restructuring
    Lists" message.

3 Once the file has reindexed, go to the File menu, and then select Save
a Copy. Note This may remove transactions from the download transactions
window. If you have transactions in Download Transactions window, you
should accept any new or non-matching transactions prior to performing a
    Save a Copy.

When performing the Save a Copy, you may want to change your file name
to something different and save it to the desktop. The Save a Copy might
    take a few minutes.

4 Once the Save a Copy is complete, go to the File menu, and then select
    Open File.

5 In the Open Dialog window, select the data file that you just created
with the Save a Copy feature.

6 Check to see that the file problems you were experiencing are gone.

If you are still experiencing problems with your data file, you can
export your information to a QIF file and then import the QIF file into
    a new file.

Export your data to a QIF file

1 If it's not already open, open the Quicken for Macintosh data file
from which you want to export the data.

2 Choose Export from the File menu.

3 Select the Full Export option.

4 Click Export to create the QIF file.

5 Name the file something easy to recognize, for example, "export.qif".

Import the QIF file into a new data file

1 Click File, and then select New file to create your new data file.

2 Enter a name for the new file, and then select Save.

3 When prompted to create a new account, click Cancel.

4 From the File menu, select Import QIF.

5 In the Open File dialog box, choose the QIF file you exported (For
    example, export.qif).

6 Check the new file to ensure the problems you were experiencing are
    resolved.

7 If the problems are resolved, continue to use this file as your main
data file from now on. Note You will have to reestablish all scheduled
transactions (for example, Quickfill transactions, loan setups, online
account setups and memorized reports). These are not carried over
    through the export/import feature.

I forgot to mention that following these procedures will almost
certainly fix the problem. I've never seen them fail (and usually only
the first part is necessary) to resolve problems like this one.

They seem to charge for support, which I will not pay. The problem is
not that serious of an issue to pay for.

They don't charge you to use the Online Knowledge Base, which would lead
you to the same procedures I've posted elsewhere.
