    Default Quicktime 6

I had an application created with director 8.5 which integrated still photos, video and sound. somehow one of the photos created as part of the slideshow in quicktime became corrupted. I fixed the slideshow using quicktime 6. This ran fine until I recreated it under 6. I read about the qt6 extra but could not find it, it appeared on the qt3 extra was available. When I tried clicking on the 'if needed' button I got on error message because the URL it was trying to link to was incorrect.

It plays find on my PC standalone, but as soon as I try to run it over the web, I get the message: This shockwave movie has errors that have caused a playback problem. Please contact the author of the content regarding this problem. Shockwave is unable to continue.

I read the previous post with interest about avoiding the need for a quicktime player on the desktop, although the discussion didn't help much. These were created in quicktime so I assume that I need to use quicktime player? I am not very comfortable with the xtras and not finding much help in the documents.

    1) Any help on why I am getting an error when trying to play it over the web?
    2) Do I need a qt xtra for 6 and how do I get it?
    3) Is there really a viable option to play a movie created in quicktime without requireing the user to download the qt player?

Try uploading the required qt3 xtras to a server and modify the URL of the
xtra's in "xtrainfo.txt" in your director folder. Then click on "download if
    needed". Hope that works.

You can also test your offline director movie in authoring mode while
emulating safemode with "the safeplayer = 1"
