Quicktime Movie
A director movie was created was links to a few quicktime movies. All the files were burnt into a CD and plays well in a PC. Then I played the CD in another PC. When going to the frame with a quicktime movie, nothing but the the background, which is black in color, can be seen (not even the red box with cross) on the screen. In this PC, I tried to open the movie by double clicking them and it can be played. What is the potential reason for that?
Thanks for advance for helping!

Re: Quicktime Movie
Also, what quicktime version is on that machine? Which quicktime version
are you authoring with?
The target machine should have the same version of Quicktime that you're
authoring with (or greater). You can distribute the latest version of
QuickTime on CD for free if you go to apple quicktime developer support and
get the full install version. Then you'll need to follow their licensing
rules.
Finally, you'll need to check the target user's version of quicktime and
install the more recent version if necessary. You can do this with
lingo --- best to do a google search on this in the "groups" area.

Re: Quicktime Movie
Yes, I can play the quicktime movies directly using quicktime, but not in the director movie.

Re: Quicktime Movie
Something very interesting is that I just discovered that everything played well in that machine if I copy all the files into the harddisk. So what should be the problem?
Thanks again for help!

Re: Quicktime Movie
If you don't get an alert asking where the QT files are at startup,
then your Director movie thinks that it knows where the files are. If
you don't get a red X then QT is installed on the computer.
If you can play the QT files by themselves then you have the proper
version of QT, at least one that contains the codecs that you need.
If the Director movie and the QT files play as expected if you copy the
files to the hard drive but not from the CD then my guess is that there
is something faulty with the CD or the way that you've written the CD.
Can you test on more than one computer? Do you get different results?
Have you tried more than one CD?

Re: Quicktime Movie
If video plays on the authoring machine but not on another machine. The most likely reason is that it can't find the video. Video is never imported into Director it always links to the file. Sometimes it is linked with an absolute address. It's hard to tell if it has because the property inspector always shows the absolute address. You need to change the address by typing in a @. Here is a link that explains this in detail:

Hope this solves your problem.
