    Default R50 MCA

    I have a R50 running on AIX 4.3.3.
At the end of the year 4.3.3 will be out of support, and I know that
the latest AIX 5 will not support MCA bus machines.

However correct me if I am wrong I still can run AIX 5.1 and still be
    supported ?
Also does anyone know the product life cycle of AIX 5.1, when will it
    be no longer supported ?

    Regards

5.1 will run on a MCA based machine and is supported (I believe) until
end of 2006. IBM recently extended the end of service date, but I
    can't find the announcement letter.

FWIW....... here's a link to an announcement that suggests 12/31/2005 for
    AIX 5.1......and 7/31/2007 for AIX 5.2

If this link should fail, you should find it by searching at IBM's web site
    for Announcement Letter A03-0825
