    Default RAID - drivers needed?

    Greetings One & All

Does this group have an FAQ?

I have a DELL PowerEdge 2300 that I'd like to press into service as a dev
    box.

Ubuntu won't install[1] - can't get past partitioning as it can't see the
    RAID arrays.

I'd be grateful if some kind soul could point me in the right direction.

    Cheers

[1] FWIW: gentoo has a similar issue, XP loads straight on.

aye - troubling indeed - and odd, this box did have a *n*x installed at
    some point.

Pity, I've no need for another Win server but a breezy box would be just
loverly jubberly right now. There's an adaptec controller in the box too
    - maybe I'll see if that can be persuaded to present the HDDs nicely
although I suspect that route may be more trouble than it's worth.

    and the answer is .....

plug the HD backplane into the on-board Adaptec SCSI controller -
    completely by-passing the PERC card.

ok - meand no RAID but this is a dev box that will never again see active
service in a production setting so I'm a happy bunny.
