RDS Service - Option of install? - Macromedia ColdFusion

Our CF MX 6.1 servers were set up by another person and when I try to select the RDS server in Dreamweaver Databases tab I get an error message falsely reporting that either the url is incorrect or CF isn't running. Could this be caused by an install where this service was not enabled or installed? If so, is there a way to enable it without having to uninstal-reinstall MX ? Doing a complete reinstall would be a huge pain because of all the data sources, verity collections etc. we've set up. Thanks, Richard...

The instructions for disabling RDS are online
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/coldfusion/6.1/htmldocs/config22.htm They tell
you to comment out a section of the web.xml file. In your case, make sure they
are not commented.

Ken,

All I found in our web.xml file relating to RDS was this:

<servlet>
<servlet-name>RDSServlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>coldfusion.rds.RdsFrontEndServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>

I did not find what was mentioned on the disabling instructions:

<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>RDSServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/CFIDE/main/ide.cfm</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>

Do I need to add any part of this? What should it look like to enable the
service?

Thanks!!

I have been having problems using the RDS service since install...Everything
checks out in the servlet mappings (Yes you do need that other statement
included), but when I look under /CFIDE there is no /main, let alone IDE.cfm...

Reinstalled twice, and can access ColdFusion Administrator fine...Not running
IIS, using standalone built-in web server on port 8500...

How do I get the folder /main under /CFIDE?...I can't find much help out there
and I have been all over the place...
