Re 50 Fast Dig. Photo Techniques
Re Technique 48:
I am trying to paste my own image to the given background. Following instructions (p.236)
Selected image, Edit>copy
Activated background, Edit>paste
-But when I try to combine them the background disappears..?????
Does this have anything to do with TIF -
Image is PSD. I changed it to TIF but still no luck. They will not go together.
I'm sure the solution is staring at me, but can't see it.

Re: Re 50 Fast Dig. Photo Techniques
Bonnie, I have the book open in my lap....when you selected the image to
copy, did you select the whole image or just the part you want to include as
part of the combined image? If you copied the whole image, it will paste
onto your other image as a layer - and likely will cover everything below
it. After you've done the Edit>Paste, look at the Layers palette for the
new combined image - do you see the two layers (background below and
pasted-on image above?). I think the technique calls for you to select
carefully only that part of the first image that you want to copy onto the
second image, then paste it and move it around.
Another issue may be the size of the two images you're trying to use. If
the one you're trying to paste on is larger (in pixel dimensions) than the
one you're trying to use as background, you may have to shrink the larger
one once it's in place as a layer. If that's the case, come back and we'll
talk about how to resize the overlay.
