Read only error

InDesign CS is frequently making a working InDesign document into a read only file that can only be saved by saving as a file with a different name..!! can anyone help!!

That is what I would expect if you had a colleague who had the doc open
when you tried to edit it.

Is this doc on your computer? Are you the only person working on it?

thats what it looks like..but unfortunately.. it isnt the case..that was the first thing i looked at.

I think you need to tell us a little (lot) more about your working
circumstances then, to give us a clue.

You are working in Windows version ? on a document you created and saved
in a directory on your own C: drive ?. Etc. . .

Can you change the name in windows explorer?
