REALLY Bad Previews on CS eps files, placed in Quark 6
We are getting really bad (blurry) previews of our CS made EPS files when placing them in Quark 6.
They print OK but the preview when placing in Quark is truly atrocious.
Any ideas?
BTW our AI 10 previews are only typically poor (not atrocious) so I feel this is a CS issue, not Quark.

Are they really worse than the preview images you've always received when placing any eps image into Quark? Hard to believe.

The CS previews are MUCH worse.
Really they are unusable.

Re: REALLY Bad Previews on CS eps files, placed in Quark 6
It may have something to do with the whole ascii versus binary eps thing. Unfortunately I haven't yet fully grasped this new aspect, but I read somewhere (probably in this forum) that the new CS applications default to ascii eps (including Photoshop). In the past we always used binary. Some older binary eps images linked into AI CS files won't print (though they did in an earlier version mechanical).
Play with the Quark setting for ascii or binary, and also try placing ascii versus binay eps files.
If you figure it out, let us know!

Does it help any to use tiff previews? I don't have CS so I can't really offer more than a guess.

And then there's the old trick of scaling your Illustrator doc up to 400% and scaling it down to 25% in Quark.
