Really mysterious AppleShare prob - Mac Networking

I have several partitions on my hard drive. On my other Mac, I use the Go menu to mount the first machine's partitions. All partitions except two mount. Two of the partitions refuse to mount. Someone suggested a bad AppleShare PDS file. I couldn't find that file on any of my partitions. What I did then was, I reformatted one of the non-mounting partitions. Then I turned off file sharing, turned it back on, rebooted, etc. That partition STILL won't mount. So whatever problem is going on, the problem survived a reformat of the offending partition. I have several partitions on my hard drive. On my other Mac, I use the
Go menu to mount the first machine's partitions. All partitions except
two mount. Two of the partitions refuse to mount.

Someone suggested a bad AppleShare PDS file. I couldn't find that file
    on any of my partitions.

What I did then was, I reformatted one of the non-mounting partitions.
Then I turned off file sharing, turned it back on, rebooted, etc. That
partition STILL won't mount. So whatever problem is going on, the
problem survived a reformat of the offending partition.

The server machine is Jaguar, the client is Panther.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to back
up and restore all the partitions on the server machine.

Another strange clue: When I CHANGE THE NAME of the non-mounting
partition, then stop/restart personal file sharing, the drive THEN
BECOMES MOUNTABLE with no problems. But when I revert back to the old
    name, it won't mount.

You donīt happen to have any non-ASCII -characters in the volume name,
do you? I recall having problems with a volume with the character "ä" in
its name. Some apps wouldnīt install on that volume.

Or do you have a volume with the same name on both machines, like
"System" on machine 1 and "System" on machine 2?
