Reclaim disk storage - IBM DB2

I have a DB (7.2 FP 8 on Win2k) that is growing beyond the phisical disk size. I noticed that it contains a lot of useless index. If I drop them, how could I reclaim the phisical disk storage? I.e. is there any features like "compact database"? Thanks a lot. Bye Franco...

    The answer is it depends.
    There is no "compact database"

    1) Long way:
Drop the indexes when you're sure you don't need them.
Reorg the table and indexes of your db.
Take an off line backup of the db.
Clean up the file sysytems where you db containers reside. (reformat,..)
    Restore the db.

    2) Other way.
If objects are in SMS tablespaces, drop the indexes and reorg the tables
of those indexes. The space in the file systems will then be available.
Note that there still might be fragmentation at the file system level.

If objects are in DMS tablespaces, drop the indexes and reorg ALL
    objects in those tablespaces.
I'd take a full db off line backup here to be safe, though not required.
Run db2dart with the option to lower the high water mark. Set option to
0 (zero) to get it as low as you can.
If in V8 then alter the tablespaces to reduce the container size; then
    backup your db off line.
If in V7, (or V8), you can also backup the db off line, drop all
tablespaces, then restore the db from the backup without rolling forward.

Because DMS tblsps. are pre-allocated, just dropping the indexes will
not free up the disk space. It only frees up extents within the
    pre-allocated containers.
