Background: A colleague has discovered that his W2K home system has been
infected with the dreaded Blaster (yeah, yeah, we know...). Getting hold
of the M$ patch is not a problem, but the prerequisite is SP4 (Service
Pack 4 for the fortunates who don't have to deal with Windoze), coming in
at a mere 140MB. He only has a 56K modem, so I offered to download it and
burn him a CD on my iBook.

I tried using DiskCopy, selecting DOS format, as per the help in
DiskCopy, but we could not read the resulting CD on either the PCs or
various flavours of Unix we have at work.

Another colleague suggested that I use Toast instead, but I have also
come across other CD burning tools such as mkisofs (spelling?) and
    cd_record.

Which tools do folks recommend for burning ISO 9660 CDs? Ideally I would
like something which can be script driven so that I can automate the
    process.

At the time I write this, my colleague has probably managed to get
his patches from elsewhere, but I would like to find out how to produce
ISO 9600 compatible CDs on my iBook for other data exchange purposes.

The standard freeware unix tools -- mkisofs to make an iso image and
cdrecord to burn it -- work fine in osx, at least with the burners
I've used, and are certainly (shell-)scriptable. Fink is an easy way
    to get them.

The burning tools supplied as part of osx can burn iso images but I
don't think Apple supplies any general purpose iso creation software.
It can make ufs images, though, which most unix systems will be able
to read. Given an image, you can invoke the burner from a shell
    script via 'hdiutil burn <image>'.

mkisofs (part of the cdrecord package from Fink) will build a nice
CD image file, which Toast or the Finder or cdrecord will burn.

Should be nicely scriptable, though I haven't used it that way. (I
need to build HFS, Rockridge and Joliet CDs at work; piece of cake.)
