Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
I use Windows XP. I have downloaded Adobe Reader 5.1 and Adobe Acrobat 4.0. I am trying to read a file but all I get is a red square, blue triangle and blue circle in a square box.
I have no idea how to fix this, can anyone help me?
Thanks

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
1. Are you sure the PDF you got is not just a picture of a red square, blue triangle and blue circle in a square box?
2. Which application displays like that, both?
3. Adobe Acrobat 4 cannot be downloaded.
4. Adobe Acrobat 4 is not compatible with Windows XP.
The fixes I would suggest:
1. Download and install Adobe Reader 6.
2. If you need the functionality of the full Acrobat product, purchase Acrobat (Standard or Professional) 6 and run the 6.01 update.

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
I have Windows 98 and I get the same red square, blue triangle and blue circle in a square box in the upper left hand corner of the page. I have Adobe Reader 5.0 and thought that was the problem so I tried to download a newer version and when it comes up it's the blank screen with the red square. It refuses to download.
Please help, thanks.

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
I thik this is to do with IE security, so try the following:
In Internet Explorer:
Tool > Internet Option > Security > Custom Level
Make sure that the option "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" is either enabled or prompt.

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
The 'prompt' was checked and I changed it to 'enable' and it still gives me the box!

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
If you have anyting disabled in this area of the security sections of IE security options then try changing them. I have changed this option to 'disable' and I get the exact same symbol - there may well be other similar options that have the same effect.
For obvious reasons I would try this experimenting with a local PDF so you don't have to be connected to the internet at the time.

Re: Red Square, Blue Triangle, Blue Circle
I went in and enabled everything except 'access data sources across domains'. I still can't open the files. Do you think I should delete acrobat reader and try reloading it again?
