Default Redhat 9 install gone bad!

I upgraded my system from Redhat 8 to 9 and have had nothing but
    headaches.

I had my Informix products (IDS 9.40.UC2, 4gl 7.32 and ISQL 7.32) up
and running at one point. Then.... Redhat support had me upgrade my
kernel to 2.4.20-19.9 to fix a problem I was having with my network.

Since then, I cannot get IDS up and running.( I have reinstalled many
    times)
I am getting all kinds of weird shared memory errors.

Anyone out there have any recent experiences with Redhat 9 and IDS
    9.40.UC2??

    Thanks

I have Redhat 8 (not 9) with the above mentioned kernel running 9.40.
Install was 8.0 plus all up2date fixes (as of last Sunday) and after
    correctiions to
/etc/hosts file 9.4 runs just fine.

Yes. Works fine for me. So can you be more specific about your
    problems?

    Hi David !

If you copy the old onconfig to /opt/informix/etc/, this will result in
problems, if you have edited the file with vim, joe or other editor.
Take the original onconfig and only use onmonitor to change parameters.
There are 2 prs in oninit, one dislikes unicode and lets oninit
crash with a shared memory error (i can reproduce this always). The
other pr dislikes also unicode, but informix crashed later, at the
first network connect. onconfig then is repd and crashes without
error. You can remove shared mem with ipcrm ....
