Default "Reduce File Size" corrupts the preview

I have large magazine PDFs that need to be crunched down, so I've been using "Reduce File Size" to make the files a better size for downloading. Recently I've noticed that after running this, the preview of the file I see in Finder (and when attaching to emails) is blown out; it looks like a negative from color film. Not only does this happen to the preview — if someone opens it using Mac's Preview rather than Acrobat Reader, random other pages have the same problem.

I am using Acrobat 7. I did not notice this happening until I upgraded to Tiger earlier this year. Has anyone else experienced this problem? And if so, what do you recommend I do to avoid it in the future? My client panicked until she remembered to open it in Reader. The problem is, I have no idea if their subscribers are using Reader or Preview, and they may be seeing this issue as well.

Default Re: "Reduce File Size" corrupts the preview

Instead of using "Reduce File Size", try using the PDF Optimizer feature in the Advanced menu which gives you TOTAL control over the reduction process.
