Redundant elements

Hi,

i'm using an Acrobat Professional Pro 9 environment, VB and the SDK reference.

I want to merge lots of PDF files in a Visual Basic application on a desktop, is it possible and how?

If yes, i want to merge redundant elements like fonts, image, and so on, because lots of document merging are similar. Is it possible and how ?

Acrobat's document merging feature will automatically eliminate the duplicate objects in the final file.

Sorry, but what merging feature ?

when i use the merging menu in the acrobat pro client, with 5000 documents, and when i analysing the final document i found 1422 fonts...and 2000 images.
There is only 6 fonts and 2 images.

Could you, detail your explanation, please ?

Addon : the 6 fonts are the same (image too).

When i save the PDF file as PS and distille it, the document is very smaller and i found only 6 fonts for 5000 documents.
How do i can do that without Distiller ?

Without seeing the documents, I can only GUESS.

Make sure you are doing a SaveAs in Acrobat and NOT a Save.

I suspect that the fonts are subset and not compatible subsets or Acrobat will merge them.

As to the images, clearly there is SOME difference or Acrobat will find them and reduce them.
