    Default reinstall

I have contacted my so called retailer regarding the fact
my CD's product key is not valid... I am told this is
only good for one install that I can reinstall it on the
    same computer. Is this correct?????

A valid Windows XP Product Key can be used to reinstall
XP as many times as you wish, as long as it's installed on the
    same computer.

If you were given an invalid Product Key, then you need to
settle the matter with the company that issued you the key.

It is certainly *not* correct that it is good for only one
    install.

What does "so-called" mean in "so called retailer"? It sounds
like you're dealing with a sleazy fly-by-night outfit, that
hasn't given you what they should have, and is lying to you, to
boot. They may have even installed a pirated version.
