I recently upgraded us from FMP4.1 running peer to peer over TCP/IP using
clients on win98, win2000, winxp pro.
Used to work fine. Then I upgraded to 5.5 on the client machines

But now there are delays in being able to access files.
When you switch to filemaker from using another application it takes about 1
minute to give control to the user. Once the user has control its fine.

It initially worked fine in 5.5 with no delays, then I added some files and
I think I went about creating the relationships wrong.

I've learnt that you get problems having files of the same name on the
network.

I think this delay I'm getting is FileMaker searching for the files on the
network and not a problem with client/host machine resources.

What does the save link to relative path checkbox do?
And when I'm opening files for external scripts using the hosts button as I
always did in 4.1, should I check it or uncheck it?
Or does it not mean anything to me because I'm using the hosts button?

I am confused and this delay problem is driving me nuts. I need to copy and
paste data between applications and filemaker so this delay just won't.

I've searched this group on google and found some pointers which have led me
to the above conclusion that my relationships and external scripts to files
need examining.

I've gone through and updated all relationships using the hosts button but
the problem remains. What's that save relative path checkbox do?

Thanks

Please help!!!
