relative movement - Macromedia Director 3D

ive loaded a 3D object into director and have lingoed some buttons to move and rotate the object. the script looking something like: on mouseUp me member(1).model(1).rotate(0,-20,0) end what i want to be able to do is write a script that will move a desired object so many units in a direction relative to its current position, not (0,0,0) and perhaps if anyone knows how to set up movement boundaries in a director 3d movie that would be a big help. Default relative movement

ive loaded a 3D object into director and have lingoed some buttons to move and
rotate the object. the script looking something like: on mouseUp me
    member(1).model(1).rotate(0,-20,0)
    end

what i want to be able to do is write a script that will move a desired object
so many units in a direction relative to its current position, not (0,0,0) and
perhaps if anyone knows how to set up movement boundaries in a director 3d
movie that would be a big help.

    Default Re: relative movement

member(1).model(1).translate(0,-20,0) will move the model 20 units along the y
axis in the negative direction. if the model's world position is 0,0,0 for
instance, it will go down 20 units. that's assuming you're view from the
default view, looking negative along the z axis. there is an additional
argument, the realativeto, that lets you translate relative to the model itself
(the default), it's parent, the world, or another model/camera/light. leave the
additional argument off to move relative to the model.
