Do you have any .rhost files over riding the hosts.equiv?

    Hi Ron,

    Thanks for replying...

No, there isn't a .rhosts file.

If I'm setting up a local network between two OSR 5.0.6 servers,
what files need to be set?
Maybe I'm just missing a file somewhere.
I shouldn't need DNS for a local network using remote printing or
    anything, should I?

    Thanks again,
    Don

The differences that stand out to me are as follows:
I use netcat for printing to print servers.
I have no hosts.lpd file on either machine
Server1 -- that does the printing has a hosts.equiv and a .rhosts file (for
    root).
    Server2 -- has only a hosts.equiv file.

    Server2 cannot see Server1 while Server1 CAN see Server2.
Server2 gets the message that you posted.

man rhosts and pay attention to the permissions.

    Hi Ron,

Permissions on the .rhosts file was it!
I had greater than 600 on it.
Once I put it to 600 I was good to go.
I can't believe I missed that when I was going through the man pages
before I posted the need for help.

Thanks for your help, it was greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Don
