OK - how I do dat? I've located the directory location of the old version,
and the new version is in the same directory. Is it as simple as deleting the
old version, or is it more complicated than that?

you need to download the uninstaller. I'm not sure how to get to it through the
adobe website but if you go to youtube.com and click on help at the top then
click on the topic that says my movies wont play, it should have a link to the
    uninstaller.

Thanks to all. Got the uninstaller, downloaded and installed it, then reloaded Flash again. Works wonderfully.
