I'm on DW4 and the Find and Replace function doesn't allow to change
filenames. But if you're on DWMX. maybe that does? Launch Find and
Replace (press Ctrl + F) and do a test on a single page (backup the page
first!). If you make it work, backup the entire site, and apply the
    criteria sitewide.
That's the only suggestion I can give since I dunno if/how you can run
    something through the Windows OS....

Any internal links will need to be changed after doing this. Find & replace
    may do it.

Backup your files and open a command prompt. cd to the directory with your
files in it. Type "ren *.html *.php"
This will change the filenames of all the .html files in that folder.

why would you want to change .html to .php if there is no scripting in those
    files?

As Colm said, even if you do change all the extensions, links will be
broken. You really feel like fixing links in 1500+ doents?

The other option is to add this to an .htaccess file:

    AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

This will make the Apache p .htm and .html files as .php. No need to
    change the file extension.
