replacing home page - Macromedia Contribute General Discussion

:confused; I am unable to delete the background on my existing home page. I have created a new home page, but cannot figure out how to make the new page the home page. Unable to "save" the new page as the "www...com/index.html" file. Any way I can do this? If not, any idea on how I can delete the background on the existing home page? Thanks...

re: changing the specified homepage to another page.

My understanding is that this is done at the Contribute Users and Roles level,
so must be done by the site Administrator. Each role has a specified "Home page
for users in this frole:" (Edit Role Settings > General section), and this can
be changed, but again, only by an Administrator.

re: removing the background of your page:
This really depends on how the page was created. If the page was based on a
template, and that template includes the background, you probably can't remove
it. If the page was created from scratch, I think we'd need to see the
HTML/code used to add it. Basically there are multiple ways to add a background
to a page (in the BODY tag, style sheets, etc) so we'd need to know which one
was used to really help you remove it.

Post your code and we'll see what we can do.

    Default replacing home page

I have designed a completely new home page with lots of links to it for my
school website and now want to use it as the page viewed when the web address
is typed in. I have changed it so it comes up when I connect to contribute but
can't find out how to make it the front page for site visitors. Could anyone
help as my headteacher wants all the new pages to go live quite soon after Xmas.

    Default Re: replacing home page

    Hi,

If you want the page to come up while browsing to the site, please name the
same as index.htm or default.htm. This page names depends on the names that you
have added on the webserver end. If you are using an IIS as webserver, please
go to the IIS console, <website name> (right click) Properties, Go to the
doents tab, this lists you the home pages for the site. So when you browse
to the website, server inturn looks out for this home pages in the root
    directory and displays the same.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Radhika
