I am having problems with automount appearing to hang when a
replicated NFS server is down. I have a NIS setup, and I am using
+auto_master /etc/auto_master in all the client SPARC Sun Solaris 7
network. I have two NFS server (nfs1 & nfs2), and the NIS set-up is
configured as follows:

# NIS /usr/local directory map for automounter
# created on march, 2003
* -ro,retry=10 nfs1,nfs2(1):/usr/local/&

When nfs2 is down, the client hangs on every command I tried to do at
the system prompt, and I see the following message in
/var/adm/messages:

automountd[164]: server nfs2 not responding

Is there any options I can set in the NIS auto_master file to prevent
automount from keeping to mount NFS2 and therefore cause
commands/login to hang.

Rubens.
