Req. code for adding copyright symbol
I've looked around the internet and can't find the code to enter in a copyright
symbol. I've searched my 'symbol' font to no avail... Would anyone happen to
know the code for this? It's the 'c' in the circle.
Thanks for any avail. info.

Wher do you get a Copyright symbol?
Where do you get the various symbols like the (R) and the (C) to use in Illustrator 10? Can they be downloaded or whatever? Many thanks. -

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
Mac or PC? Text or HTML?
On the mac it is just Option-g to insert it in text (normal font such as
Arial, Helvetica, etc.). In unicode it is 00A9, and in RTF-8 it is C2 A9
(according to Apple's relatively miserable little font book program). In Symbol
font it is Option-Shift-w. In HTML it is ©
In Director when I'm dealing with odd things I will sometimes keep my odd
characters in a text field by itself, and when building a string I just copy
the text from that member and then put the entire string in the display member.
You could then do a specific test on which member to copy based on platform if
you needed to. Often helpful when dealing with math equations.

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
the html version is & copy ; (without the spaces) Preview didn't seem to convert that, but after posting I see it did convert it and properly show the copyright symbol. Wonder what this one will do :)

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
I'm currently working on a PC (Windows)... but can use a MAC at school... What
will happen if I were to find out what the code is in Windows and then try to
display on a MAC? Would there be any confusion?
Thanks for the quick responses!!

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
For most fonts things will look the same, but for a few things they get shifted
between mac and pc's (I believe the <= symbol was one, but not positive). I've
never had to deal with the copyright symbol, so not sure about it. The worst
thing that can happen is the wrong character appears in that location.
The best way to check it is to try it on both platforms early in development
;) Always suggested, rarely done.

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
I know what I'll do to get around the cross-platform problem... I'll create an
image and just add it in.... but, I'm still at a loss for the coding for a PC.
I know it's something like this: "Alt + ###" but I can't remember the silly
numbers... the things we choose to remember... and the things that fade with
time. <sigh>
Thanks,
Lea

Re: Req. code for adding copyright symbol
Using an image is often a good idea. I do the same thing with lots of
math/physics stuff.
If you want to take a look I put up a file you can download at
http://staff.explorelearning.com/pfaff/director/copyright_test.html (right
click on filename to download)
The first member in the cast is a copyright symbol. Good luck with your
project.
