Default Resizing finished booklet from 11x17 to 8 1/2 x11

I am trying to resize an already finished booklet in Indesign 2, on XP from 11x 17 to 81/2 x11. All I can change is the document size, the images, layers, and guides do not scale down with the page.

How do I do this. This should be just a simple formating question but it has proven difficult.

Click on the Layout menu and choose Layout Adjustment, enable layout adjustment.

IF your text frames and graphic frames touch margin and column guides, you can next change the document size and much of it will scale and resize.

That is a big IF for most designers. If the frames aren't touching guides, the program has no point of reference to re-layout the file. Your results will be mixed at best.

After you try this on a copy of your file, be sure to turn the feature back off.
