Default Resizing pix outside ID without scaling them in ID

    Hello

Is there a possibility to make ID not to rescale placed pix within the frame
if they are resized for any purposes outside ID (as PM does)?

If you resize the image, it will be....resized. The image is linked by InDesign, so there's nothing you can do unless you want to embed the image using ID's Links palette. I do not recommend this.

    Scott,
    > If you resize the image, it will be....resized.
In fact I only do change the resolution of the pix, and there is no need to
change the scaling-factor of the placed pix automatically - as PageMaker
    shows.

ok - thanks for your answer.

If the image's dimensions do not chane, then the image will be updated in ID, since it was changed, but it won't change size. So if a 200 pixel image at 300 ppi is changed to 1000 pixels at 150 ppi, it won't scale in ID.

If the dimension at the new resolution changed compared to the old dimension at the old resolution, it will definitely rescale. Provided the proportion of it remains the same, right click on picture and select fitting > fit picture to frame. No faster ways I can think of except scripting.

    you got exactly the point.

But if I had already choosen a part of the pix, i.e. zoomed into, those
settings are lost after a "fit to frame".

Ok - it's not really a problem any more - resizing pix was important to me
as I wrote PS-files for service-providers, and therefore I was used to
resize pix to the neccessary size in PageMaker after the layout was done.
Since the providers accept PDFs - who cares...

    Nice weekend!
