How can I resize shapes created in Illustrator CS so that the stroke size is also resized proportionately? Is this possible? Thanks.

Allen,
Someone with CS will have to confirm, but in earlier versions, what you want is in Preferences | General: check 'Scale strokes & effects.'

Or just check "Scale strokes and effects" in the scale dialogue box. (Press [S] then [Enter] with your object selected)
