Restricting Content on a Page
Hi, I am using Contribute to manage an existing website, and I am trying to
figure out how to restrict editing of certain content within an existing page.
I understand how to set up user permissions based on files/pages themselves,
but I would like to be able to restrict editing to one element or area (a table
for example) within a page. Is this possible with Contribute? If so, does
anyone know how to do it? Thanks!

Re: Restricting Content on a Page
Well - the answer to this is both yes and no!
You can do this using dreamweaver templates. So basically, create a template
in dreamweaver, then upload it to your server in the Templates/ directory.
Then you can create new pages based on this template and only the sections you
have deemed editable will be editable.
As for restricting portions of already-existing non-template pages, there is
no way to do this, to my knowledge. Contribute is a web authoring system and
will allow editing of any portion of the page that is valid html.

Re: Restricting Content on a Page
Thanks for the feedback. I figured out the Dreamweaver templates yesterday,
and that works well for what I need to do. I guess I'll have to create some
templates and new pages based on the templates. Thanks again!
