revision via email problem

Posted: 10-27-2008, 02:51 PM
Hi,

I use Acrobat 7.0 on Mac Os 10.3.9 and thunderbird 2.
I am trying to send a pdf for revision to a client, but when i do i get the message (it is in Dutch so i will try to translate it to English) SendMail does not know how to communicate with the preferred program. Select a different email program to use.

Does Acrobat not work with thunderbird?
Any help would be appreciated... I do not want to switch between email programs just to send a pdf for revision.

For anything but Mail and perhaps Eudora and/or Entourage, Acrobat will
not communicate with it for sending pdf files. You will need to manually
attach files. Its a pain, but if I have a choice between manual
attachments or give up Mailsmith, I'll use manual attachments anyday.

thanks, but forgive me for being ignorant: how do i make sure they can revise the pdf if i manually attach it?
I normally always attach my pdfs manually, but this specific client wants to be able to add comments etc from the reader.
And so far the only way I have found to do this in the help function of Acrobat 7, is by clicking the send by email for revision...

If there is another way to give them the ability to add comments I would be sooooo happy
Or should I upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat for that?

I don't have 7 installed on this machine, but if you are talking about
comments by review, you can save the file for review and manually send it.

hmmm, unfortunately acrobat 7 does not seem to have the option 'save for review' only 'send for review'...

am afraid my only option is to upgrade. (Or make the client go buy acrobat instead of using the reader)

email for review is supposed to work, But there is a Caveat.

Your only allowed to use only certain email Clients.

apple mail
Eudora
Entorage
Outlook
MailSmith.

The most popular elamil clienst on the planet:
gecko based Mozilla products such a Thunderbird and SeaMonkey are not even considered.

The specifications That adobe uses for Mbox compatibility is way out of date and therefore they continue this bias against popular email program.

They should support All mail programs, not just a chosen few. I've even put in feedback request for such and I'm sure when they see it they get a big laugh reading it.
