Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
If you want the actual selectable objects to really get rotated, you should use the Object>Transform>Transform Each command.
The Transform effect from the Effects menu would be used if you want the visual representation to get transformed, but not the actual anchor points and selection outlines.

Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
Teri is too good however the Transform>Transform Each does something that annoys me to no end in that once transformed the angle is now set back at zero so if you are doing a rotation relative to the rest of the art work then you loose your origin of rotation and since you can always expand the appearance, I thought this could be useful.

Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
Wade, WHERE does it "set back at zero"? In the Info palette? The Transform
palette? Or if you call up the Transform Each dialog again? Here, there is no
indication ANYWHERE of the angle of rotation EXCEPT if I immediately call
back the dialog, where it's set to where it was.

Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
If you use the effect, you can check the appearance palette to find out what angle is applied.
The transform>each does not indicate anywhere what angle it was rotated from . Going back in the transform dialogue only shows what the last rotation was, not what the rotation of a specific object was.

Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
It would be nice if you had some kind of history state in AI but unlike Photoshop one that could be saved even if it is an a selective history for things of this nature.
But John has it correct.

Re: Rotate Multiple objects at once and still keep same place?
JK, welcome home.
You're right on both counts. What I was saying was exactly that: If you want to
know by what angle you transformed each, you have to get back to that dialog
before doing any other transforms.

Hey Wade,
Hey Doug,
I know that you knew that he said that she said that...Just reiterating what we all know. (or think we know)
