    Default Rotate workspace-page orientation

Hi: I am working in InDesign CS on a large folded brochure. For it to print properly some of the content is oriented in different directions...so sections are sideways or upside down on my screen. Is there an easy way to rotate the pages, content and all? What I have been doing is grouping all the objects on a section and rotating them 180, making design edits and then rotating back.... But this is time consuming. If I change the page orientation under Document settings, the page changes, but not the content. Any suggestions?

    Thx.

Here's a suggestion: make your rotated pages in separate documents. Export each as pdfs. Place pdfs in your 'master' document, rotated and positioned correctly.

Make your edits in your original documents and overwrite the pdfs: when you've finished all your edits click the update icon in your master document.

    Valliant attempt.

It sure works! But it sounds like a work-around from the computer Middle Ages!

It'a actually a better workflow especially if you used drop shadows.

Hmm, that just might do it! Thanks for the suggestion.

I am using drop shadows on some text. Is there any PDF compression issues I should keep in mind? I've run across some PDF oddities when using the drop shadows (that faint white line around the text boxes). And the final doc will be PDF'd for printing.

    Thx again for the input!

Despite the work-arounds, you might add your voice to those of us who have put in feature requests for a rotatable window. It comes in handy for turning horizontal spreads into vertical spreads as well as working on designs that go everywhich way for proper print production. There are many on this forum who don't see the value in it, but there are lots of features that not everyone uses. I think this one would be a huge time saver for some workflows.

I can rotate the screen display in my system preferences (it's a third party pane) but of course all the pallettes end up sideways or upside down (the ones on my second monitor of course remain normal) and the mouse is weird to control!

But yes, I'm with Diane on that point, rotatable views would be great.
