Rotating text

I used to be able to rotate text as well as the text block using the Selection tool. Now the block rotates, but the text does not. Is there a shortcut key or a preference somewhere which would allow me to rotate the text and the block at the same time? (I can do it with the Rotate tool and the Free Transform tool, but I prefer to use the Selection tool so that I don't have to change tools.)

Interesting. Never knew that about the selection tool bounding box. Has it always rotated just the box and not the text, or is this new to CS?

Appears to be new behavior in CS. It was very handy in version 10 to be able to rotate text with the Selection tool.

It doesn't rotate the text in a text box in AI9 either. I'll have to check AI10 tomorrow.

If you use the text tool to make a frame or convert a an object to areas type of course it will not rotate. But it yo create point type that is click the type tool anywhere on the art or paste board and start typing even with returns or soft return and you choose the selection tool to select that text then you can rotate it as expected in AI CS, AI 9 AI 10 and earlier. You will also be able to do this to text on a path. But by it's nature area type fills the object text type and there forew any angle you rotate it with with the selection tool will behave that way.
