Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
Does anyone know what happened to the rotating tool?
Used to be when you clicked on it, you could rotate the object manually ....
now, the only option I have is to type in a number and guess that I'm getting
the angle I want, instead of doing it interactively.
So far I am very unhappy with this version of FH.

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
Hi Ginni,
You have to double-click the object to activate the scale/rotation feature.
:-)
If thats not working, there's an option in Edit > Preferences, click the
General Tab, and make sure the "Double-click enables transform handles"
option is checked
Thanks,

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
I had this problem too. Then I found the rotate tool in the tool
palette. It is not the same as the transform rotate tool where
you have to type in the degrees. The rotate tool icon is not a
good visual representation. It has a blue line tilting down and
to the right and a real samll arrow (it looks like a dot) on an
arc on the left.

Thanks for the info - didn't have to double-click in the old version - knew I
was missing something very obvious.
Hey, while I have your ear - is Macromedia coming out with a fix anytime soon
for the copy/paste issues? This is such a major problem for me and can't
believe it hasn't been addressed yet.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
Trollmama, you want the Rotate Tool, not the Transform Handles, right?
There are two icons that confuse. Find the Rotate Tool icon in
Toolbars > Customize > Tools/Commands. It's the blue blobby icon.
You do not want the "Rotate ..." icon under Toolbars > Customize > Modify.
That one opens the Transform/Rotate panel.
I don't know about you, but I dislike Transform Handles because they're so
imprecise. I turn them off immediately with every new installation. Give me
the traditional, excellent Scale and Rotate tools any day.

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
Thank you so much, Judy, for understanding what I was asking for - the
Macromedia tech support guy didn't!
Thought I was going crazy trying to find easy rotating tool. Don't like those
transform handles at all, they always come up when I don't want them to. Didn't
realize that old tool was still there, with a new-looking icon.
This forum sure is helpful - except for the copy/paste nightmare, that is. You
had responded to that, and I mentioned it to the guy who answered my question
about the rotating tool, and he doesn't know what I'm talking about!
Am I the only person out there who is having this problem??!! I used to be
able to open FH files from within Photoshop, I used to be able to copy/paste
from FH into Photoshop, I used to be able to place FH files in Photoshop! Now,
all I get are empty boxes ... I know about the copy/special blah, blah, but it
doesn't always work. Is FH addressing this issue - or again, am I the only one
who has and thinks this is a big problem?
I used copy/paste so much that I really, really miss it.
Are they going to fix it?! Or am I sol?

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
Which copy/paste issue am I referring to ... are you serious?
I used to be able to open FH files from within Photoshop, I used to be able to
copy/paste from FH into Photoshop, I used to be able to place FH files in
Photoshop! Now, all I get are empty boxes. This has created a major nightmare
for me.
You don't know what I'm talking about?

I have no problem copy/pasting to Photoshop from Freehand MX. Still works the same as on all previous versions.
I'm using MX on Mac OSX.

Re: Rotating Tool Doesn't Work Anymore!!??
I'm happy for you Murray, but that is not the case with me, and apparently
other people as well, since FH is supposedly working on it as a known issue.
I don't know what's different about what you are doing - but it no longer
works for me, and hasn't since I upgraded to MX and OSX.
I gave up last week and installed Illustrator and am now converting all my FH
files to AI files so I can get some work done.

Did you read Judy's responses to your Copy/Paste thread at all? Did her
suggestions work or not work for you?
