Running IIS without being connected to the internet
Can someone remind me on how to run IIS (and therefore be able to execute
ASP scripts) without being connected to the internet. If I remember
correctly it involves a loopback adapter.
Thanks
Terry

Re: Running IIS without being connected to the internet
Just try going to http://localhost. That should be fine. IIRC, you only
had to manually install the loopback adapter in NT4.

Re: Running IIS without being connected to the internet
Shouldn't be necessary. I run IIS on my home machine, which is on dialup and
usually isn't connected, all the time. Also, my laptop while sitting on my
couch, also disconnected.

Re: Running IIS without being connected to the internet
No,
You are not required to do that. It all depends on how the machine is set
up. I can disconnect myself from internet, and everything will work as
usual. I gave him a link that explained how to add the loopback adapter, in
case it was needed.
It was not clear what the actual problem was, and since the questioner
mentioned the loopback adapter, and thought that it would help to add it, i
thought that what he really wanted help with was to install the loopback
adapter.
Here's another link that might help:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B278416
As you can see, if you have no NIC, you can have problems running IIS.

there is no adapter until a connection is made, hence the use of the
loopback adapter.
