In Acrobat 5 I was able to "save as .eps" for better halftone printing. Now I can not with V 8. Anyone have a hint?

Re: Save as .eps
Linda,
File > Save As > Encapsulated PostScript saves an EPS file.
Tell us more about your workflow. It's not at all clear to me that saving as EPS would produce better printing.

Re: Save as .eps
I have a newspaper. I need to print at an 85 dpi halftone screen.
The graphics program that I operate does that very well.
When I get a .pdf I save it as a .eps. Then I can size the advertisement in the proper size and print. I can't see where I can adjust the dpi to a newspaper halftone of 85 dpi and size the pdf to the right column width.

Re: Save as .eps
Choose your PostScript RIP (you didn't tell us what kind of RIP you're using). Choose File > Print. In the Print dialog box, click the Advanced button. Click on the Output panel. The PPD for your printer should list screenings which are appropriate for your RIP.
No need to save as EPS.

Re: Save as .eps
Tried your method. When I go to print, open the print dialog box, click on advanced button, I get advanced print set up, postscript options.
There is no "output panel"
There is Language: with options of Language level 2 or 3
There is font and resource policy
There is download asian font
There is emit CID FOnt type 2 as CIDFongType 2 (PS version 2015 and greater)
There is print as image
Am I lost?

Re: Save as .eps
Then it looks like you're NOT printing to a PostScript printer. In that case, I don't believe you can create halftone dots.
Can you please tell us what kind of printer you're printing to.Steve_Werner@adobeforums.com Guest

I am using a postscript printer. The HP LaserJet 5000. I don't have problems with halftones in any other program!

Re: Save as .eps
You set the printer at the top of the Print dialog like in all Mac OS X programs.
But if you have a PostScript printer, when you click the Advanced button you should see the Output panel as I described above.
The fact that you couldn't see it made me think you didn't have a PostScript printer.

Re: Save as .eps
Well I dont have Acrobat 8 on my Mac but at home I have Acrobat 8 Professional running on Vista and it can save as EPS.
File > Save As > Save as type: Encapsulated Postscript (*.eps)
I hope this helped

Re: Save as .eps
Linda,
The line frequency of the output is typically determined at output stage
to film/plate - you should not have to perform this step ..

Re: Save as .eps
Maybe I will try to uninstall and see if this fixes the "save as .eps" I need the eps to import to way too many programs
