And search the Direct-L digest in the month of November for a message called
"PDF CLASS" - someone has written some scripts for exporting PDFs with
Lingo.

Save as PDF
When I save my Illustrator file as a PDF, the fonts are converting to helvetica or something generic, has lost all formatting and the letters look like they are spaced incorrectly. I have checked "include document fonts", but what else could be causing this?

Re: Save as PDF
What version and OS?
It sounds like the font is not actually open.
Also, you mean you "embed all fonts," correct?

Re: Save as PDF
Illustrator 10, OS 9.1 and yes "embed all fonts". Using Suitcase 10 with auto activation too.

Re: Save as PDF
Which font? Some fonts only have screen versions and don't have printer versions to embed.
The font may also be corrupt: check for corrupt fonts in Suitcase.
Can you try making the pdf through Distiller (rather than AI's Save As) to see if it gives you an error message?
