save as tif, mac or pc?
How come after I flatten an image and save as tif, sometimes it changes to be in Mac format?
I never save as Mac.
Never need to. people can still open the file even on a mac saved as PC.
I just dont like having to check if it is pc or mac format.
I always select PC and sometimes it switches back to mac the next time I save as tif..

Re: save as tif, mac or pc?
a tif is a tif. it's cross platform
Dave is 100% right.
I am not sure about this, but I have heard that if you have the LZW compression selected in IBM byte order, problems can occur when printing.
Just a thought.

Re: save as tif, mac or pc?
I am talking about the byte order selection when you save as tif in tiff options.
Sometimes it changes to Mac Byte order.
And if it doens't matter, why do the have the option?

Re: save as tif, mac or pc?
Never never never want to use compression.
I never even mentioned compression.
Storage is very cheap anyway.
I just want to know why byte order changes to Mac when I save as tif.

Re: save as tif, mac or pc?
the byte order (little endian/big endian) is for old outdated RIP software.

Zippy,
You are. Photoshop will, of course, accept either byte-order on either>>- again - I could be wrong.<<
platform, and gas done since version 2.5 (the first Windows version).
I know of no current software (or any for many years!), on either platform,
that gives a hoot about byte-order.
