"Save for Web" error
I'm working on a Windows 2000 PC, with a newly installed Illustrator 10.
Every time I use the "Save for Web" feature to convert an Illustrator file to a Gif or Jpg, it works fine once... but if I try to do it again, nothing happens. I have to close Illustrator and reopen it to do it again... has anyone had this problem? I've reinstalled the program once, but it hasn't helped.

Re: "Save for Web" error
Michael,
This has come up from time to time with no definitive diagnosis:
"Can only use Save for Web once" 3/22/04 12:06am </cgi-bin/webx?13@@.2cd0b415/1>
"Save for Web - nothing comes up" 12/3/03 10:51am </cgi-bin/webx?13@@.2cceb640/1>
"Save for Web only works once per session" 11/27/03 6:16pm </cgi-bin/webx?13@@.2ccdf25e/2>
"Save for web problem" 7/7/03 12:38pm </cgi-bin/webx?14@@.1de92c57/5>
The consensus seems to be delete AIPREFS. If that doesn't do it, check your Windows administrator privileges. Creating a new user login with full admin rights might solve the problem.
Finally, there is the dreaded full uninstall/reinstall.
Please let us know what, if anything, works for you.

Re: "Save for Web" error
Michael,
Before you delete the AIPrefs file, please:
1) Open it with Notepad (or Worstpad) and search (CtrlF) for 'ShowDialog' (it appears in the actions from 4 on);
2) Look for the values in actions 5 - 8 (SVG, GIF, JPG, and PNG 24); in each case there should be two lines which should read:
/hasDialog 1
/showDialog 1
If some of the values are 0 instead of 1, I think we have found the culprit. Otherwise the AIPrefs file may very well be innocent.
I suppose you have installed the update.
