If you want your background to be transparaent you'll need to save in a
format that support transparancy - png, tiff psd.

Gethin,
Can you please turn off the Autoquote feature in your NewsReader when accessing here?
It's not really necessary here and often annoys other users, the majority of whom access via a web browser.
