"Saving" forms to Distiller
While Reader cannot save a form file, it can be printed. My question is:
Can I use a Javascript to dynamically name the print file when I "submit" the file to print?

Re: "Saving" forms to Distiller
Don't think I follow. You mention having Reader, but if you have
Distiller you have the full Acrobat (don't you?) and hence can save
the form.
But a direct answer: no, JavaScript cannot control print to file, or
talk to the Distiller printer, or automate Distiller settings.

Re: "Saving" forms to Distiller
Thanks. I guess I should have been more specific - I'm looking for a way for multiple users of Reader to submit forms to a Distiller box while dynamically naming the output PS file. I know this can be done in Acrobat 6.0, but haven't seen the ability with 5.0. The issue at hand is a static form, with the possibility of several users simultaneously filling/submitting. The goal is to prevent overwriting, and to provide a simple one-click method of forwarding the end result.

I don't think I follow, but I feel this may be very important. What do
you mean by a "Distiller box" - a separate computer which is running
Distiller Server?
And what do you mean, specifically by "submit" in this case?

Re: "Saving" forms to Distiller
Sorry, bad choice of words on "submit". The form is static, and we don't need to save anything but the output (no field data sharing), so the process would be to click and forward the filled form down the pipe, presumably as a PS file in the manner that one would select to print the file. What we would want to do is eliminate the interface step where the user selects the printer, and names the file. We are reviewing the licensing we currently have for Distiller, but you are correct in the assumption of a Distiller Server.

Re: "Saving" forms to Distiller
Sorry, I can't think of a way to do this. Acrobat and Reader+Reader
Extensions might allow you to directly flatten, then save the file
without Distiller being involved.
