Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
I am trying to get my AI files to open into CorelDraw 9.
I have downsaved to a legacy filed version of Illustrator 3 but for some reason, the client (a CorelDraw9 user) cannot open it.
Supposedly CorelDraw 9 provides full support for all Adobe Illustrator formats up to and including 3.0, Illustrator 88 and 1.1...
but for some odd reason, it's not working for me!!!!!!!!!!
Are there any suggestions?
Please help!

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
Try saving it as an EPS. JPEG, TIFF. Then try placing it and not opening it.

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
Not opening in Corel?
Simply placing?
I will forward this piece of information to our Client.
I just don't understand how this can be.
Illustrator CS has the capability to downsave to an earlier version
but for some reason, CorelDraw9 refuses to cooperate.
I'm sure it's some simple little step I am missing.
I just can't pinpoint it.
The client says he imports his files and for some reason is having problems with the files I am trying to provide.
If this even matters:
I am on the Mac Platform on OS X.
Anyone else know something that may help?
Please, all suggestions are welcomed.

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
We have tons of problems opening Corel files into AI10.03. So why wouldn't it be any different the other way around?
We get stop sign looking text, we get non complete paths, sometimes we get totally uncomplete files.
And if our Spec'rs don't turn on the fonts used, it is a nightmare and we have to reset it.
I don't think Corel is the way to go if wanting to convert a file. Try another way perhaps?

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
Are you saving your files with the correct extension (.eps, .tif, .jpg or whichever you use)? If your client is using Corel I have to assume they're on PCs, and the file extension is necessary for the PC to recognize the file. Had to ask...

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
Yes, I am using the proper extensions.
Thank you for asking. I am almost convinced that I need to convince the Client to deep six the idea of CorelDraw…
=\
Unless some divine miracle happens to correct the problem, I am stuck.

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files to CorelDraw9? Help!
Just another thing that occurs to me. I seem to recall that Illustrator didn't support raster data before AI6 or so(?). Saving down to a really early version of Illustrator may not be possible for this case. Does the client have the same problem with pure vector images saved down from your Illustrator?
I don't know how Corel deals with raster images. I would guess that it can't open and edit raster files, but can only place in the document.
