Saving Illustrator CS files as PDFs -- can I crop the image?
For years I've saved Illustrator files as PDFs in order to send to clients for approval. When I did this, the PDF would crop anything that extended beyond the artboard. But in Illustrator CS this isn't happening. Is there a way to do this? It's a time consuming exercise to have to crop the document in Acrobat. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
I don't have CS, but if you use crop marks, you should be able to avoid cropping in Acrobat.

Re: Saving Illustrator CS files as PDFs -- can I crop the image?
Just so you are aware, the crop area make will adjust the crop box of the pdf.
When opened, it appears cropped to your desired area. In actuality, the cropped portion of the image is still there in the Art box or Media Box.
The point is that if you do not want the extra image at all, you will need to hide the image another way so that other users of the pdf cannot access it. If you do not care if it is hidden in the pdf, then no worries.
Here is one discussion on pdfs from Illustrtor CS <http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?128@@.2cd0964b>
Also, follow the link the thread contains for another discussion.
