Saving JPG or GIF to Vector Image

Using Photoshop 7.0 or Firewroks MX, how do I save full-color JPG or GIF image to vector?

Not possible. You'll need to trace the bitmaps with the Pen tool to
create vector objects.

You need some sort of "tracing" software. Macromedia products like Flash and
Freehand have the tracing capabilities. I remember giving a try to free tool
from [url]http://autotrace.sourceforge.net/[/url] as well - it was able to do the job
but quite unsuitable in configuration (it's a command line program).

How does one change a bitmap image to a vector image in fireworks? I tried selecting it using magic wand, then modify marquee and then convert to path. But that just creates a blue color on the image. Does anyone have any hint on how to do this?
