    Is there a way to save your workspace (with palette arrangements & such) in illustrator 11 like there is in Photoshop? thanks

    No, but there should be. I think Illustrator CS is the only program I own that doesn't allow me to save my workspace. I don't know why it's not been fixed by now. If it's not included in an update, I'm not buying the next upgrade out of principle.

    Don't mean to be contentious, just this is unbelievable.

    If I knew how to do it, I'd volunteer my time to put it into the code.

    unfortunately not. You can create different AIPrefs but this is not a good workaround. The Vector Studio plugin suite has a solution that works ok. Look at hotdoor.com

    That's just not acceptable, to have to buy a plug-in for something like this. Is it because it's too hard for the engineers or is it laziness? Sorry, but this bugs me every time I use the program.

    No, Illustrator does not have saveable workspaces at this time. But what do you want to do? If you have a workspace that you'd like to get back to every time youlaunch Illustrator, simply set things up the way you like them, quit Illustrator, and then lock your Illustrator prefs file.
