SB800 Flash with SD800 Pack (D70) - Photography

Hi All I bought a SB800 for my wife - lasts a bit longer than roses at valentines [ (;<D)) ]. I have a question / problem - she asked me to remove the battery cover and fit the SD800 adapter. I tried according to the manual, but found it too stiff and resistant to force it. Not wanting to break it I gave up. Anybody had the same trouble - or got a better way? TIA U W...

    Default SB800 Flash with SD800 Pack (D70)

    Hi All
I bought a SB800 for my wife - lasts a bit longer than roses at valentines
    [ (;<D)) ].
I have a question / problem - she asked me to remove the battery cover and
fit the SD800 adapter. I tried according to the manual, but found it too
stiff and resistant to force it. Not wanting to break it I gave up.
Anybody had the same trouble - or got a better way?
    TIA

Don't force it; it will break. You have to pinch the lugs together at the
base while removing it. It is easier to do if you remove any batteries
first. If you do break it, the cover on the adapter is an exact duplicate.

There are a couple of yahoos around here who will tell you to force it; that
it is pro equipment and will not break. I think they just get their jollies
by getting people to break their equipment.

    Hi
Many thanks - just as I thought when I saw the plastic starting to deform
and discolour. Thank heavens I didn't obey the instruction booklet
otherwise I might well have been really at loggerheads with Nikon. A great
shame to spoil otherwise most excellent products.
Thanks also for the additional tip re the SD800 cover.
    Cheerio for now
