Default Scale tool stuck on proportional

Please help? this is driving me crazy.

Suddenly whenever I use the scale tool to resize an object it always scales proportionally, ie click and drag corner only allows constrained resizing just like when you use the shift click method (no? my shift key is not jammed? but that?s how it is behaving)

I?m hoping there is a simple setting somewhere to alter this behaviour back to default, I have already tried reinstalling/installing with no luck.

    Any help Appreciated

Any time you want to reset the program parts back to their defaults,
delete the Fireworks.ini and Fireworks Preferences.txt files. Since I
don't know which operating system you are using, I can't tell you where
they are located on your hard drive.

Have you tried unchecking Constrain Proportions, etc, via the Numeric
Transform feature? Modify > Transform > Numeric Transform.

I'm pretty sure this IS the default behavior. Try dragging the side
(instead of corner) handles if you want it non proportional.

Have tried the options in the numeric transform feature... no luck

No its not the default behaviour :( this just started happening... even the help docs state that this is not default behaviour for the scale tool. It should only be acting this way when a click-shift-drag operation is applied.

    Thanks for feedback so far

    Just for clarification:

My shift key is not stuck or being pressed when scaling.

The shift key behaves as expected in all other aspects of FW, ie multiple selection, scaling single object by point handles etc.

Shift key behaves as normal in all other applications... including DW and Flash.

    Thanks again for any help
