Default Scanned documents with 6.0 unable to be read by 5.0 or 4.0

I am using Acrobat 6.0 and scanning documents to be saved as "4.0 or greater" and people still report they are unable to open documents. Any suggestions? These people tell me they have Acrobat 4.0 and/or 5.0 which is why I try to save them "down."

Default Re: Scanned documents with 6.0 unable to be read by 5.0 or 4.0

Do you by any chance open and save the scanned PDFs in Acrobat 6 before sending them out? If so you've reset the compatibility to Acrobat 6. Do you zip the PDFs before e-mail the documents so that the known problems of passing binary PDFs through mail nodes that treat them as text are avoided?

As you can see I am grasping at straws here to imagine what might be happening. "It's broke. How do I fix it?" questions could lead to many people guessing and trying to help with totally inappropriate suggestions. Perhaps you'd care to follow the advice that's plain to see just above the Add Topic link at the top of this forum, and tell the forum every single detail about what you're doing, on what OS, using which of the several Acrobat 6 products, versions, and updates, what your users actually get - for example "some users see the following error message .....but others can open the PDF without problems".
    Cheers
