I have an entirely too large print job being output on a
laser jet print server and the system has been waiting
20 minutes to cancel it. Is there some other way I can get this thing to stop printing?

Have you unplugged the printer? Printers have large buffers..

You can't cancel a job that is printing until you shut down
the lp printing software. Then you can cancel it.
And if it's on a network it gets even more fun.

If that was fun I think I'd rather play with the idea of
cutting my wrist with a dull spoon.

I ended up having to shut the machine down twice before the job would cancel.
